Typographer-in-Residence 2025 The HMCT invites artists, designers, researchers, and educators to apply for a four-week, in-studio residency in Pasadena, California. This program is designed to support the development and continuation of a proposed project, allowing the resident to explore the significance of language and typography within their professional practice or personal research. 2023 Typographer-in-Residence Fellow: Josiah Tersieff
Josiah Tersieff graduated from ArtCenter with a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design in 2022. Based in Ventura, CA, he maintains a skillset geared toward the building and support of brand identities, often through custom typography and font design. He has worked as a freelancer with a variety of companies, from a tech startup to creative agencies. John van Hamersveld: A Sun of Many Colors

HMCT’s catalog of our 2021 HMCT Typographers-in-Residence program, Mujeres Hispanas y Tipografía (Hispanic Women and Typography), was recently reviewed by renowned author and designer Steven Heller in his engaging blog The Daily Heller. Highlighting the talents and contributions of five Hispanic women designers, researchers, and educators to graphic design and typography, the catalog reflects the influences that individual cultures and histories had on their investigations. HOURS

The HMCT (South Campus) Gallery is free and open to the public. It is accessible when school is in term, seven days a week from 9 AM to 7 PM. The Storefront Gallery, located within the Center, is also free and open to the public most weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. (We advise you to call ahead to make sure the Storefront Gallery is open, 626-396-4343 ).
