Yves Peters: The Secret Language of Movie Posters

In Conversation with Yves Peters and Simon Johnston, HMCT Creative Director and Professor of Design at ArtCenter.

For the past decade, Yves Peters has examined and reviewed film posters for his ScreenFonts series. By studying their design and typeface use and mapping signature styles to film genres, he discovered that those posters use a codified language to communicate more efficiently with their intended audience. The entertaining trip — full of fun and surprising tidbits — will help you understand and master this visual language. And you will finally learn why Trajan is the most-used font in film.

Free and open to the public.
