Jessica Spring will be serving as our Printer-in-Residence in HMCT Archetype Press during the week of October 21. A letterpress printer since 1989, Jessica invented Daredevil Furniture for the composition of metal type in circles, curves and angles. Her work—artist books, broadsides and ephemera—is included in collections around the country and abroad. She has an MFA from Columbia College Chicago and teaches workshops virtually and in person around the country.
The Printer-in-Residence program at HMCT Archetype Press embeds artists, designers, researchers, printers, and educators in Archetype Press for one week. Candidates are chosen because of their non-traditional and/or innovative approach to the use of type and analog technology. These residencies offer the rare opportunity for designers and artists to investigate the importance and relevance of type in their practice or personal research, as they interact with students and faculty of ArtCenter.
Presentation at Archetype Press: Thursday, October 24, 7 to 9 PM. Free and open to the public. Jessica Spring will share her work and process.
