The Presence of Absence

The Presence of Absence documents the 2023 program at the ArtCenter Berlin studio, which involved twelve weeks of research into the philosophical and aesthetic importance of understanding space, interval, and the interconnectedness of figure and ground in all creative practices. Led by instructors Prof. Simon Johnston, Prof. Rob Ball, and Nina Holland, Director of Little Steidl publishing house, the ArtCenter Graduate Program student participants included Elio Chen, Grace Hwang, Ruby Kim, Sydney Lee, Elliana Lee, Maggie Morton, Jacob Ruiz, and Katherine Shirinyan. The accompanying exhibition at HMCT Gallery was held during summer of 2023.
