The Typographer-in-Residence program embeds artists, designers, researchers, and educators in the Center for a six-week period. The residency offers the opportunity to further investigate the importance and relevance of language and typography in the participant’s professional practice or personal research.
The Typographer-in-Residence spends six weeks in the HMCT studio and participates as a guest critic in one undergraduate typography class; delivers a public lecture; holds bi-weekly open conversations for faculty and students; and presents an exhibition of their work or research.
HMCT is currently accepting applications for the 2025 residency. Applications are due May 31, 2024.

The residency offers the opportunity for students, instructors, and the public to attend workshops and learn new skills, approaches, materials, and more from renowned master letterpress printers.
