Jobs
HMCT offers paid opportunities for ArtCenter students to contribute to ongoing projects and gain hands-on experience. Depending on the assignment, students work alongside our creative team or the archivist on tasks such as:
– Exhibition design development
– Publication design
– Social media content
– Exhibition installation
– Archiving and cataloging
HMCT operates as a working design studio within ArtCenter, offering direct insight into how typographic research, design, and production intersect. Projects are collaborative and can become part of a student’s professional portfolio. Work schedules are flexible and arranged around class commitments.

Fellowships
Each year, HMCT offers a Student Fellowship connected to the Typographer-in-Residence program. During the four-week residency, the Fellow works closely with the Resident designer to support research, project development, and documentation. After the residency, the fellow collaborates with the HMCT design team on the design and production of a publication that records the project’s process and outcomes.
This opportunity is open to ArtCenter Graphic Design graduating students interested in research-based typography and/or publication design.
Program Overview
> Start date: February 9 – March 9, 2026
> Duration: 12 weeks — 25 hours/week during the 4-week residency, with flexible scheduling thereafter in consultation with the resident and HMCT staff
> Compensation: TBA
> Location: HMCT, Room 104, ArtCenter South Campus (950 Building)
Responsibilities
> Residency period (4 weeks, in person): Assist with research, documentation, and access to ArtCenter resources
> Post-residency period (8 weeks, remote): Contribute to the design and production of a publication based on the residency project; meet regularly with HMCT staff and the resident designer
> Write a short blog post for the HMCT website summarizing the fellowship experience
