Veronika Burian & José Scaglione (TypeTogether): Primarium

Veronika Burian and José Scaglione present “Primarium,” a research project mapping handwriting instruction for Latin-script learners in more than 40 countries. The study follows the development of cursive models as they spread internationally and adapted to cultural contexts, technological changes, and educational priorities. Drawing from the models and writing traditions documented in the study, they also developed Playwrite, a type superfamily designed for classroom handwriting instruction that reflects the styles currently taught to children.
