Dictionary of the Illegible

Exhibition and Artist Talk | February 25th 7-9pm

Laurenz Brunner, the inaugural Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography [HMCT] Typographer-in-Residence, will present Dictionary of the Illegible – a series of works documenting his ongoing research into abstract forms of writing.

Reinterpreting found materials from art history to linguistics, musical notation to science fiction, Brunner shares an in-progress cartography of a radical typographic phenomena.

Beyond word specification and with a strong emphasis on gestural expression, such signs offer a curious perspective onto potential typographic forms in a future landscape of communication interfaces.
