The Typographer-in-Residence program invites type designers, graphic designers, researchers, and educators to apply for a four-week in-studio residency at HMCT in Pasadena, California. This program supports the development of a proposed project, allowing the resident to explore the significance of language and typography within their professional practice or personal research.

The Printer-in-Residence program (no longer active) invited letterpress printers to ArtCenter’s letterpress studio, Archetype Press, for a week-long in-studio residency. The program supported hands-on experimentation with traditional printing methods and offered residents dedicated time and space to develop new work in dialogue with typography and print culture.
